Hi, I’m Izrael! I absolutely love math. But even more than that, I love teaching math to others. This may sound cliche, but I truly do find it incredibly rewarding to watch the “light bulb” moments for my students. I also enjoy seeing students develop a passion for math as they begin to realize how it connects to the real world. Math is incredibly useful in life!
This may sound like a brag, but I truly believe there are few tutors out there who can do what I do. Because I have experience teaching math across such a wide range of grade levels, I have a big-picture view that allows me to identify the exact prerequisite skills a student needs to get from where they are to where they need to be. As a result of my breadth of experience (and my incredibly nerdy, unending pursuit of new teaching methods), I’ve seen students who were two, sometimes even three, grade levels behind catch up within just a few months.
But more important than catching students up to grade level is helping them develop confidence. I aim to make sure that every one of my students knows that it is okay to make mistakes. That is how we learn. We try and fail and try again. My students feel comfortable working with me, because they know that I’m not going to get upset when they get a wrong answer or don’t remember something I taught them.

About Me
I love making learning fun! I have been teaching for more than 10 years, and I have worked with students ranging from kindergarten level all the way through 8th grade. I have taught all the core subjects: math, reading, science, and social studies. I have extensive experience working with students who need extra support due to learning disabilities such as dyslexia or dyscalculia, and I have also worked with students who are gifted and need an extra challenge.

Our son leaped at the opportunity to tutor 1-on-1 with Izrael, after having him as a math instructor throughout the year. Izrael has played a huge role in not only teaching him to do math but allowed him to excel and develop a passion for doing it!
